Equip yourself!
I must confess, after last weeks rant I believe I have made a mistake. I wanted so badly for my blog to be respected that I went of on a tangent and worse of all, promised you something. I will never make that horrific mistake again! From now on I will continue as I have, a simple man pouring out new and unique ideas to his audience, one slightly comedic list at a time.
So todays topic will be over photo equipment, yes that’s right, were actually going to be talking about something photography related. It only took us four blogs but we finally did it, woohoo! It’s probably safe to assume that if your reading this you have the basics, a camera, tripod, maybe even a light or something. That’s all well and good but to really have your photography shine, you need more. . .lots more. It’s time to step up your equipment game, here are some useful items that may help you out in the field.
Flash - having a flash handy is always great for a quick and sudden source of light, you can even get a remote for off camera shooting.
Flex fill - A flex fill is great for when you need to bounce light onto your subject, or even block light from interfering in your shot.
Lighting kit/Light stands - Having a portable light kit will really help to elevate your photography,
Kneepads - Having kneepads is always a handy item to have. It saves your precious knees if the ground is less than knee friendly.
Assistant - While not legally a piece of equipment they most often are used as one. You can tell them to stand anywhere and hold stuff, they even fetch things for you like coffee. As long as you pay them afterwards they should be fine.
Fake permits - A piece of equipment that you cannot go without, as long as you have a permit you can go anywhere. It’s always satisfying to stop a cop in his tracks… unless they see through the ruse. If they do, may I suggest….
Running shoes - Running out of daylight? Wanting to outrun the competition/security? With a good pair of running shoes you can do all of these things a little bit faster. While running with your gear may be cumbersome at least you can waddle around in some comfy shoes..
Better equipment - Lets face it your equipment is trash, all of it. There seems to be a new camera that is released everyday. Those are the best ones, your camera is outdated, old, obsolete. In order to keep up sell your current one to buy the newest model, then sell that one when the new one comes out. Simply repeat this for the rest of your life and soon you will be out of cash and homeless. That’s the process however, and if you want to be the best you must abide by this.
And there you have it, a great list of equipment that will help you step your game up in the photographic world. Make sure to use your equipment wisely, working with it can help improve its usefulness to you and your photographs.
Next week we will talk about how running out of ideas for your blog is common, and why fish are the superior models.
