How to blog
It hit me at around four in the morning that I had no idea how to do this. I am not someone who uses words to the best of their abilities due to my habit of forgetting said words when I need them the most. This is why I feel as though I am a perfect teacher to help everyone learn all about blogging and how to achieve an active and long-term audience.
Step 1: Pick a name!
Everyone knows that for a blog to be successful it first has to be noticed, this is probably the most important part besides having actual content on the site. I have yet to name my blog so as an exercise I decided to write up a bunch of names incredibly late at night and see what I think about them in the morning. Here are a few examples:
- Zach's blog: Far too generic, it needs something that makes it spark!
- Zachary's quiet corner: Nothing to do with photography also somewhat creepy.
- Zachary's less quiet nook: I guess it's better somewhat more inviting.
- Zachary's room with large windows and a table filled with one-sided notes on stuff: Bit of an overcorrection on this one, probably should dial it back a bit.
- Zach's eternal blog of the spotless mind: This is just a movie title with my name at the beginning.
- ZAvengers: This doesen't even make sense.
- Zach's billboard top twenty: While it will attract music fans I feel that most of the audience will feel betrayed.
- Zach's current thoughts on the state of the world today: No one wants to hear that garbage, they are clearly here for my other garbage.
- Zach's Garbage: Ah see, now it's straight to the point!
In Hindsight this may not have been a good idea, but eventually, you will find a great name for your blog that fits you as a person and tells your audience what your content is about. In the next blog, we will begin to cover how to attract an audience as well as what you should put on your website.
